The Full Story
The lack of the usual fire ant mounds may make you think your property has not been infested or that the ants are not a probleml. They are most likely there, so do not necessarily feel safe. Learn how treatment by Fire Ant Control of Texas protects Texas homes from these invasive insects.
Signs of Fire Ant Problem
-
You may see flattened dome-shaped mounds of loose soil in your lawn, around dead logs and trees, or under cement slabs and sidewalks. This is especially true after heavy rains.
-
Even if you accidentally disturb a mound, you may see many reddish-brown worker ants come out angrily from beneath the mound and attack humans and animals standing near the mound, first grabbing hold of the victim and then injecting a venom called Solenopsin into the skin.
-
When stung or bitten, there will be an intense burning sensation, and within 24 hours, a white fluid-filled pustule or blister will form at the site of the sting. This symptom is unique to the venom of red fire ants.
Control Fire Ants from the Inside Out
To eliminate a fire ant colony, the egg-producing queen has to be killed; in colonies that contain multiple queens, all queens must be destroyed. If they are not eradicated, the colony will typically regrow itself in another area nearby.
The proven fire ant treatment from Fire Ant Control of Texas focuses on sterilizing the queen with a strong, food-like granular bait that contains an insect growth regulator and kills the ant colonies from the inside out.
Worker ants will eat the bait and carry it down to the colony, causing the fire ants to die naturally. Extermination is not instantaneous, but once the queen has been sterilized, the colony will be down 95% within 6 to 10 weeks.
There is no re-entry interval on private property, meaning that you, your family, your pets, and other animals can walk anywhere immediately after we have applied a treatment.
Fire ants fly, so they will eventually come back. Therefore, we recommend treating your property two or three times a year to prevent fire ant re-colonization. If you still have an infestation after allowing sufficient time for the product to work, we will retreat that area at no charge.
